Where to start with our first blog?
Why we launched The Yardstick Agency would seem to be a sensible place!
I’ve had a great two years with Sense Network, and I’m pleased to say that they are one of the first Yardstick clients. But the time had come for a new challenge.
So, what next?
I missed the excitement of running my own business and love marketing; so why not combine the two?
So far so good.
I’ve worked in financial services for over two decades, in roles which include advising, compliance and marketing; I was keen to put that knowledge and experience to good use.
I believe strongly that all businesses, large and small, should have access to high quality marketing services, which actually deliver results. Return on investment is key for me. Because that’s exactly what marketing should be, an investment in your business; if you see it as a cost, then it’s clearly not working for you and we should have a chat!
Finally, whilst they might like to, my time at Sense taught me that most advisers lack the time and sometimes the inclination to market their own business in any meaningful way.
So, when you combine all these factors; our love of marketing, our financial services knowledge and experience and the lack of time advisers have, it’s easy to see why The Yardstick Agency was born.
A measure of quality
My ambition is for Yardstick to be the ‘go to people’ for financial advisers and planners, mortgage brokers and product providers, when they need marketing support.
That’s a big aim.
It’ll take time and work produced to a consistently high standard, if we are to achieve it. But I’ve no doubt that the team I’ve put together can achieve this aim.
Why ‘Yardstick?’
Deciding on a name and building a brand is never easy.
I wanted something which reflected the key reason why our clients will use us; quality. Surfing the internet for inspiration, I found a Steve Jobs quote; as soon as I read it, I knew I had found our brand.
Please do look around the site, we’ve pulled together some great resources. Feel free to get in touch too, we want to help advisers market their businesses more effectively.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with that Steve Jobs quote, the inspiration behind our brand:
“Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.”
