Introducing The Yardstick Client Connector: A simple new solution for prospects you can’t help

You will inevitably receive enquiries from people who aren’t a “right fit”.

That’s often because their investable assets are below your minimum.  In these circumstances, most advisers and planners rightly don’t want to be a dead end, so they might spend 20-30 minutes on the phone listening and guiding.

They might also direct the consumer to a directory where they can continue their research. However, in my experience, most advisers and planners would rather introduce the consumer directly to a trusted alternative.

It’s here we have a problem.

I’ve spoken to several advisers and planners recently, who don’t know which of their professional peers work with clients who have lower levels of investable assets.

So, we’re trying something new to help solve the problem.

We’ve created a list of advisers, planners, and coaches on the Yardstick website that can help clients with lower levels of assets.

Don’t worry, we’re not about to turn Yardstick into a directory, and there’s no cost to appear on the list or to use it. We’re just trying to help bridge a gap.

The list is in the very early stages, and we’ll look to improve it over time. However, right now you can use it to search based on:

  • The type of adviser, planner, or coach
  • The types of meetings offered: remote or face-to-face
  • The geographical areas covered when a face-to-face meeting is required.

You’ll also be able to see the contact details of the advisers, planners, and coaches on the list.

Two ways you can help

To be successful, the list needs to contain a range of advisers, planners, and coaches, and then be used regularly when you get an enquiry you can’t help.

So there are two ways you can help:

#1. Use the list: Click here to see the list and save it as a favourite in your browser. Then, when you inevitably receive an enquiry from someone you can’t help because their investable assets are below your minimum, refer back to the list and search for a firm you might like to introduce the consumer to.

#2. Be added to the list: If you’re an adviser, planner, or coach who genuinely works with clients who have low levels of investable assets and you’d like to be added to the list, please email your answers to the following questions to hi@theyardstickagency.co.uk and we’ll gladly add your details:

  • What is the name of your firm?
  • What is your website address?
  • What is the minimum asset value needed to work with you (if you don’t have a minimum, please put “none”)?
  • How do you meet clients (face-to-face, remotely, or both)?
  • If the face-to-face option is available, what locations do you cover?
  • Are you the main contact whose name should be added to the listing?
  • If “yes”, what is your email address?

We hope that the list helps you to help more consumers get the advice, planning, or coaching they need.

It might work. It might not. But at least we’re trying!
