Did you know that the Personal Finance Society (PFS) has a directory where consumers can search for an adviser or planner?
If you’re a PFS member, you’ll be listed. However, our research shows that your profile is probably missing important information, making it harder for potential clients to contact you.
Here’s everything you need to know.
The PFS “Find an Adviser“ directory helps consumers search for a financial adviser/planner based on their location and several other factors, including:
- Specialism(s)
- Chartered status
- Advisers that are happy to communicate by email or phone.
So far, so good, as anything that helps consumers find good quality financial advice/planning should be applauded. However, it’s here we run into a problem as our research shows that most of the advisers/planners listed on the directory haven’t fully completed their profile.
We reviewed 100 profiles and found that:
- 83% didn’t include a website link
- 80% were missing an email address
- 85% didn’t have a telephone number
- 88% had no links to the adviser’s social media profiles, for example, LinkedIn.
It’s easy to update your profile
If you’re a member of the PFS there are two simple things you should do now.
- Check whether you have fully completed your profile
You can do this by clicking here to visit the directory.
Then type in your postcode and scroll down until you find your profile. Now check whether you’ve included the following information:
- Company name
- Phone number
- Website link
- Social links
- Address.
If applicable, you can also choose to display the Chartered logo.
- Add missing information
If your profile isn’t complete, or there’s missing information, it’s easy enough to fix.
All you need to do is:
- Click here to visit the PFS website and log in
- Then scroll down until you see the “yourmoney adviser profile” on the left navigation bar
- Click the link and update the information that’s incorrect or missing.
10 more directories you might not know about
Once you’ve made those changes, it’s time to learn more about the other key directories available to you.
Earlier this year, we ran a very popular webinar summarising the key directories available to advisers/planners. If you’d like to watch a recording of that session, simply click here, it’s available for free.
