Ben has been a copywriter since starting a part-time master’s degree in creative writing at the University of Hull. After graduating, he worked freelance for around seven years while working on other creative writing projects on the side, before taking on a full-time position with Yardstick.
When he’s not writing for Yardstick, he likes to get outdoors hiking and wild swimming, forage for mushrooms, cook, practice karate, play board games, hit the pub, or play the guitar.

Full English or Continental?
Full Scottish with both types of sausage and extra black pudding. And maybe a bit of Continental on the side if it’s there.
Red or White?
Red, preferably costing between £6 and £8. I don’t really know what the different types mean and I’m not classy enough to appreciate the expensive stuff.
Summer or Winter?
Summer! The season of barbecues, hiking, outdoor swimming, and beer gardens.
Holiday Abroad or 'Staycation'?
Either can be just as fun, as long as I get to see something new.
Fiction or Non-Fiction
A bit of both – lots of pulp sci-fi novels, dystopian fiction, and whatever looks interesting in the charity shop. Non-fiction wise, anything about extraordinary characters or mind-blowing science. And sometimes a bit of history.
