Head of Client Engagement

Abi

Abi is our Head of Client Engagement, joining us with a mixed bag of experience from her work in higher education, events, and the media. She has an MA in Early Modern History with Distinction and her dissertation title was ““Niver go upon t’stage without thy name’s i’ t’ bill”:  the power of the playbill in late eighteenth-century Leeds theatre.” Naturally, this comes with obligatory encouragement – “come on!” “you must know this,” and “you do history” – whenever she watches a quiz or game show with her family.

In her spare time, Abi can be found strength training at the gym, watching F1, or reading a good crime fiction book. She also spends a lot of time on the M1, heading up to Sheffield to visit friends and family.

Full English or Continental?

You can’t beat a Full English – piled high with all the sausages, hash browns, Stornoway black pudding, baked beans, buttery toast or fried bread... but hold the bacon (yes, I know). Oh, and a big mug of Yorkshire Tea.

Red or White?

A decent glass of Malbec every time (unless you're offering Pomerol).

Summer or Winter?

As much as I love having a tan, it’s got to be winter for the frosty mornings, hot water bottles, and Christmas.

Holiday Abroad or 'Staycation'?

Hm, tough call. Cop out answer: it depends! Airports do my head in, but it's hard to beat laying in the sun with a good book and a G&T. I'm a fan of short UK city breaks and walking holidays in the Peak District too. With a country cosy pub at the end, of course!

Fiction or Non-Fiction

Fiction. I love a good crime novel. Give me a JD Kirk, Neil Lancaster, Peter James, Stuart MacBride, or Val McDermid any day. It's my dream to write my own series! New York Times Best Seller, obviously. Partial to a bit of romance recently too.
